Ruud den Drijver
In 1980 reporter Ruud den Drijver goes head to head with two notorious Dutch film directors : Paul Verhoeven and Wim Verstappen, passionate film makers, competitors and colleagues in a free for all heated discussion ranging (among other subjects) from oral sex to the art of motion pictures.
25 years later the confrontation is continued during the Cannes Film Festival. In the meantime Wim Verstappen has died a year earlier and Paul Verhoeven has returned from a brilliant career in the States. Paul is still very outspoken. He talks freely about the present-day neo-conservative policies of America, and about the situation in Hollywood and his work.
"THAT'S IT" (1989-2005) is a retrospective view on the careers of two driven film directors and is a hilarious time document larded with passionate statements.
Dick Rijneke & Mildred van Leeuwaarden are directors/producers of award winning motion pictures.
They twice supplied the opening films for the International Film Festival of Rotterdam, the favorite film of founder Hubert Bals titled VORO-NOVA and CITY LIFE, the first international episode film.

In this film, five inhabitants of Rotterdam are portrayed in their everyday lives. They ventilate their grievances about and declare their love for the city.
Bas sells souvenirs and is unhappy the city promotes so much but offers so little. That’s not what attracts tourists.
Hennie, a former trucker, has been living at the Bergse Achterplas in Rotterdam for the last few years. The drug-troubles in his street make him decide to leave after 40 years. Hennie still visits the city and his old neighbourhood regularly.
Mister Hooymayers is fighting the depravity of his street. He keeps an eye on everything and takes measures whenever he doesn’t like something.
Despite all the misery, Dirk never ever wants to leave his area ("but it won’t get much worse probably"). At Willem’s, the hairdresser where Dirk’s beard is regularly cut, old (former) neighbours come in for a chat and the last neighbourhood news.
Cor has his own ideas. The sewer worker prefers to be underground, where at least he won’t be troubled with traffic jams.
It's Not Gonna Work gives a view of the mentality of the world’s largest port.

In a colourful and multi-cultural street in Rotterdam, we meet a couple; Claes and Anja. They are on the point of taking several important decisions, but it is not easy for them. Their conflict increases so much that Anja can’t stand it any more. Their roads are separating.
Claes seems to slip away into a kind of nightmare in which images from the past and the future merge. Literally and metaphorically he is standing at a very confusing crossroad where he faces his deepest fears and desires. An enigmatic series of incidents develops before his eyes. He loses his grip on the world around him and is strangely neglected by various passers-by.
His previous desperation changes when a particularly happy moment of his life appears before his mind’s eye. He breaks away from his nightmare...
